What is TEC?
Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is a three-day spiritual retreat weekend focused around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Teens Encounter Christ is based in Lutheran tradition; however, all baptized youth and adults are welcome to participate. The retreat is three days long with each day centering on different events leading up to the Cross, the Empty Tomb, and out into the World.

Day One Theme Verse

“Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain”
John 12:24a
On this day (Saturday), participants revisit the events of Lent, Ash Wednesday, and Good Friday. The focus seeks to utilize confession and forgiveness to emphasize the importance of being renewed daily in our baptism.

“But if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
John 12:24b
On this day (Sunday), participants celebrate the miracle of the resurrection. We remember that through our baptisms we live in Christ. Participants are reminded of the unmerited grace that we receive from God through Christ’s death and resurrection.

“As the Father sent Me, so I send you.”
John 20:21
On this day (Monday), participants prepare to serve the church and the world. They discern how they can continue to be involved in their own churches, youth groups, and campus ministries. They will seek to understand how they are called to carry the Gospel into the world in light of the salvation provided through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
